Martha Krukoff

July 17, 1952 – January 1, 2026

Martha Diane KrukoffMartha ‘Diane’ Krukoff (Shane) was born on St. George Island on July 17th, 1952, and passed away at 73 years of age on January 1st, 2026, surrounded by her family. Diane grew up on St. George Island, Alaska (Anĝaaxchaluxˆ ) until May ‘65, then moved to St. Paul Island (Tanaxˆ -Amixˆ ), Alaska. After the move, she met the love of her life, the late Agafon Krukoff Jr., in the summer of 1968 on St. Paul Island. Together, they had children, Olga, Sharon, and Jonathan. The family later moved farther into the Aleutians to Adak (Adaax), Alaska, for fifteen years to continue serving the Unangaxˆ /Aleut community, while she supported her husband, who was the first Mayor of Adak, and together they worked at the local Post Office where Diane was the Postmaster.

Diane was known for her love, humor, and kindness by her entire family and friends. She was an avid bingo player, traveler, comedian, and the one to uphold the stories and language she knew of her heritage (Aleut/Unangan).

Diane wasn’t just an amazing mother, wife, and friend; she was also the Kukaxˆ Mama (grandmother) to Willam, Ryan, and “Kukaxˆ Doll” Chloe, as well as great-grandma to two year-old Kayuxˆ and two-month-old Ember. She dearly loved her grandchildren and helped raise them with all the love a grandmother gives, unconditionally.

James Bourdukofsky

May 7, 1976 – April 2, 2026

James BourdukofskyWith heavy hearts, we share the passing of James Alan George Bourdukofsky, age 49, of Anchorage, Alaska, who left us on April 2, 2026.

Born on May 7, 1976, in St. Paul Island. He graduated from Mt. Edgecumbe High School in 1994 and spent much of his life working as an equipment operator across Alaska. He was known for his strength, resilience, and hardworking nature.

James deeply loved his family. As a child, he kept his parents, Dennis and Janet, on their toes, and throughout his life he carried a deep and lasting love for them. He shared a special bond with his three brothers and often referenced the movie Staying Together as a reflection of that connection. He also held great respect for his only sister, “Angewaa,” who helped raise him in his younger years.

James treasured the friendships he built throughout every stage of life — from kindergarten through adulthood. He had a genuine way of making people feel like family, and his wide circle of friends speaks to the kind of person he was.

Above all, James loved being a father. His son, Elias, was his greatest joy. Their road trips and time spent together created memories that will be cherished forever.

James is survived by his father, Dionisy Dennis Sr.; his son, Elias, and Elias’s mother, Maggie Samuelson; his brothers, Dionisy Jr., Peter (Stacy), and Mark; his sister, Angela; and his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and Godchild. He was welcomed into rest by his mother, Janet; his grandparents, Alexay and Mary Lou Merculief, and George and Mary Bourdukofsky.
