Vision 2007

Sharon Lind
Chair
With the full management team
in place at TAC, my focus will be on team building.
As Troy
Johnson familiarizes
himself with TAC, he continues to look at every
aspect of our current business. We are using
this opportunity
to discuss where we are as an organization and
how we are currently performing.
We will also
look closely
at our current revenue sources. As many of you
are aware, a very large portion of our revenue
comes
from government contracting. This is an area
in which TAC has been enormously successful
and we will continue
to be successful. I also believe it is necessary
to diversify our revenue streams by expanding
our strengths to other areas. This will help
us prepare
for a stronger financial future.
A major concern
of mine is our future ownership and the relationship
to the organization of those born after December
1971. I was fortunate to grow up as a shareholder,
as it helped shape my curiosity about TAC. I
believe it is important to discuss and explore
enrollment
for our youth. I would like to continue that
discussion for our next generation.
Finally,
I see so many positive
things happening at our sister ANCSA for-profit
Corporations. I believe there is a connection
and a uniqueness
to the for-profit ANCSA corporations, and I would
like to explore the possibility of a networking
conference that brings all ANCSA
for-profit boards together for training, team
building, and, of course, partnership
opportunities. If we brought the for-profit entities
together, who knows what more we could accomplish
for our people.
 Tara Bourdukofsky
Vice Chair
It is always good to
see one another at the village seminar, OC gathering,
annual meeting,
banquet and
AFN. It’s a time I look forward to every year,
as it allows me the chance to listen to the share holders.
It is a right and responsibility of the shareholder
base to voice concerns, complaints and compliments.
It is a process that I respect and value. The information
gathered during meetings—shared in one-on-one
conversations or perhaps in a small group on the elevator—are
a significant guiding force, and vital in making decisions
as a director.
Please be assured that, as our new management
team carries out TAC’s business plans, I will
provide ongoing support and oversight of its performance.
This will ensure a timely production of accurate financial
statements, and will increase our ability to create
more business value.
I wish to thank TAC management,
staff, and my fellow board members—both current
and past—as well as you, the shareholder base,
for making TAC a great corporation. It has been an
exciting, incredible experience. May your holidays
be blessed with family, friends, laughter, good food
and peace!
 Elary Gromoff
Jr.
Vice President
I would like to thank the shareholders
for their continued support and confidence in re-electing
me to the
board of directors. I believe we have an extremely
strong board in place, and I know that we will work
well together to expand the business development
opportunities for TAC.
My travels take me all over
the country, and I consider each trip an opportunity
to be an Aleut ambassador. I am proud to be an Aleut,
and am pleased every time I have the opportunity
to explain who we are and what we represent.
I have
served in a variety of positions on the board for
over ten years. With the new management team now
in place, I plan to share with them the knowledge
and lessons I’ve learned. My goal is to help
the management team navigate successfully in their
roles.
I support the TAC’s vision. Increasing
shareholder dividends, expanding job bank opportunities,
providing scholarships to shareholders and their
descendents, providing benefits to elders, and,
most importantly, providing support in helping prepare
our future generations to work in and lead this organization,
will all bring positive results to our region.
 Dick Jacobsen
Secretary/Treasurer
My goals for TAC this
coming year are twofold. I’d
like to continue to grow the corporation financially,
and I’d like to continue to try and make the
board of directors, administration, and the whole
corporation more friendly and transparent to you,
the shareholders.
I would like to thank the shareholders for your support.
I appreciate those of you who called, wrote or emailed
me with your comments, questions and concerns.
I look
forward to hearing from you any time. I hope you all
have a happy, healthy holiday season.
 Debra Mack
Director
Thank you
very much for your overwhelming support in this year’s
election. I am very humbled, and promise you that I
take the responsibility
you have
entrusted in me very seriously.
For the next three
years, my goal as your Director is to work closely
with the Board and Management to help our company
continue to grow. I would like to see us expand
our real estate holdings and government contracting
business,
and explore opportunities regarding fuel. All of
this will help accomplish our vision to “achieve
$250 million in gross revenue and $25 million in
profit by 2012.” I would also like to see
us explore new areas for corporate growth.
With continued
success, we can continue to increase dividends
and elders’ benefits, provide increased support
for education, develop internship and mentor-ship
programs for our shareholders, and support efforts
to preserve our culture.
I also support the effort
to open communications with all our shareholders.
One of our goals for this upcoming year is to provide
educational tools about our corporation to our
shareholders. Improved communications between all
of us—shareholders,
directors and management—will strengthen
and improve the trust between us. With a high level
of
trust, we can accomplish great things with our
corporation. I look forward to working for you
this next term.
As always, please contact me if you have any questions
about your corporation.
 Stanley
Mack
Director
I believe
that this coming year will be one of sustained growth
for TAC. In my
role as a board
member, I will
continue to watch the organization’s financial
performance, helping establish an even stronger
financial base that will in turn produce higher
dividends for
the shareholders. The key to managing our growth
will be to explore other business opportunities
that will help expand the business profiles of
our subsidiary.
One of my passions is the mentorship program. This
program is designed to groom other shareholders for
management positions within the organization. TAC
is an Aleut organization. It is my goal to see that
the Aleuts operate TAC in the future.
 Carl
Moses
Director
I greatly appreciate the support
and trust you gave in electing me to our board
of directors.
I will strive
to apply my years of experience in the business world
to increase the profitability of our corporation,
which in turn will provide greater dividends
to the shareholders.
I will encourage development of the mineral and oil
resources in our region, as well as all other business
opportunities that become available to our region.
I look forward to serving you to my greatest ability;
my phone is available 24 hours a day. Thank you for
your support.
 Alvin Osterback
Director
I believe my extensive business
experience, especially my understanding of the
fiduciary responsibilities
required in making sound business decisions, will
benefit shareholders. TAC continues to grow the bottom
line. This is due to the board of directors setting
high goals, searching for and hiring executive-level
personnel that have the ability to reach these goals.
Most importantly, what makes it all work is having
a staff that believes in the company and puts all
the pieces together on a daily basis.
My main concerns
are assisting elders and providing higher education
opportunities for all shareholders. I value elders
as the foundation of the Aleut people. I see higher
education opportunities as the key for preparing
our next generation of leaders. Most importantly,
I will always remember that the corporation belongs
to the shareholders. Electing me to TAC’s board
of directors is their way of saying “we put
you there because we trust you will look out for
us.”
 Alice Petrivelli
Director
I would like to see more young Aleuts
involved in the corporation and its subsidiaries.
I believe
it is
important to involve young people in TAC now, so
that they will continue the tradition of growing
a successful corporation and protecting the land
and culture.
I believe that it is important that
the young shareholders know the history of the corporation.
They need to be aware of the “good” and
the “not-so-good” events that have happened
since incorporation. Utilizing this knowledge will
help them be better future leaders.
I also believe
it is important to stay in touch with the Aleut people.
My role as an Elder for Rural Human Services, UAF,
puts me in touch with the everyday challenges people
face on a personal level. It is a reminder that “there
is more to preserving our organization than just
protecting the bottom line.” I believe the
board can unite and work together as a team to help
establish a “work-for-the-people agenda.”
