The Aleut Corporation Board
of Directors is pleased to announce that Troy Johnson
was recently named CEO of The Aleut Corporation.
Johnson is an original enrollee in TAC and most recently
served as vice president and general manager of an industrial
controls solution firm in Hawaii before deciding to
join The Aleut Corporation. "The
opportunity to help our shareholders and our employees
prosper has ingnited my passons and imagination,"
said Johnson. "I fell in love with the idea of
working for a company that has a heart and a purpose
greater than just raising stock share prices. I am here
for our shareholders
and our employees
and I am honored to be a part of this great
organization.”
A native of Southern California, Johnson fondly recalls
his father and grandmother talking about the Aleut culture,
teaching him words and phrases. “I
feel like, in a way, I’m coming
home.”
In addition to his management and business acumen, Johnson
is a Registered Professional Engineer with over 20
years of experience in
both the technical and commercial aspects of engineering
consulting. This combination of technical experience,
management, and leadership skills has prepared him to
lead TAC into the future.
“TAC should be proud to have achieved this level
of success, now it’s time to take it to the next
level. Strengthening the senior management team and
instilling certain corporate practices into the organization
is important for its growth and sustainability.”
Johnson believes “the
job of the CEO is to create a work environment that
breeds loyalty and pride in the workforce, which in
turn affects productivity and performance. This will
produce unprecedented results for everyone.”
One way Johnson plans to build TAC’s accomplishments
relates to his core belief that talent is a critical
driver of corporate performance. “A
company’s ability to attract, develop and retain
top talent is extremely important. Companies that succeed
wildly are the ones who are best at managing their talent,”
he comments.
The early days of Johnson’s tenure will be spent
absorbing and assimilating as much information as possible
and becoming knowledgeable on the topics affecting the
corporation. He will be traveling around, talking to
people, listening to their requests. In gathering all
this information, Johnson wants to know where TAC excels
and where the challenges
lie. He will be outlining his plans in future issues
of the newsletter.
Johnson will be relocating to Anchorage in early April
and is excited to begin the work in earnest. The rest
of the Johnson family, wife Cathy and sons Hunter, 8,
and Carter, 5, will be moving this summer. The boys
are excited to trade in their surfing and beach activities
for snow-boarding, ice hockey and fishing. “I
would like to thank the board of directors for this
opportunity. They did an outstanding job throughout
the selection process; they were thoughtful and took
the time they felt necessary to find the best candidate.
I look forward to working with them in what I believe
will be a powerful, collaborative relationship.”
