Requirements/Qualifications
The Aleut Corporation board of directors wholly or partially owns a number of subsidiary corporations. Five-member boards of directors run the subsidiary corporations and work very closely with subsidiary management. The Aleut Corporation appoints members to serve on the subsidiary boards for three-year terms.

The board of directors serves as the policy making body of the subsidiary. The appointment of a director to a subsidiary board is based on qualifications, experience, dedication, and willingness to serve. All directors are charged to serve the best interests of The Aleut Corporation.

Qualified persons may submit an application and résumé for consideration of appointment to a subsidiary board.
Appointment decisions will be based on a combination of any or all qualifications listed:
· Professional qualifications will be considered.
· Demonstrated experience/knowledge in the subsidiary’s area of responsibility.
· Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and act strategically.
· Demonstrated successful experience in strategic planning.
· Demonstrated experience/knowledge in analytical, problem solving, decision-making skills, and sound judgment.
· Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems.
· Demonstrated experience in prior service on a for-profit board of directors.
· Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with others.
· High motivation, with the time and dedication required to prepare for and to attend board meetings.
· Demonstrated strong communications skills.
· Demonstrated education/experience in the business arena.
· Is committed to The Aleut Corporation’s purpose, vision and strategic goals.

Disqualifications:
· Bankruptcy
· Conviction of fraud or theft
Responsibilities of a director:
· Attends all meetings of the board of directors unless excused.
· Support, explain, and promote all policies/actions of the board of directors.
· Keep informed on the operations of the subsidiary.
· Work with The Aleut Corporation board of directors and subsidiary board to establish, approve, and determine the priority of existing and proposed business activity that will benefit The Aleut Corporation and all shareholders.

To submit your name for consideration to serve on a subsidiary board owned by The Aleut Corporation, please submit a letter of interest and résumé. Your letter of interest should include why you wish to serve on a subsidiary board and what you believe you will bring to the organization.
