March 2007
As spring arrives we find
ourselves waiting for breakup and the signs of new life.
The board of directors is also looking toward new horizons
for The Aleut Corporation.
This year’s planning session
was held in Seattle, Washington on February 26th –
February 28th. During this productive gathering the
board finalized the hiring of our new CEO, shareholder
Troy Johnson.
Troy is an original enrollee of The
Aleut Corporation and we were very pleased with his
interest in joining our team. You can learn more about
Troy in this newsletter. On behalf of the board of directors,
we are very pleased with our selection and we look forward
to a bright future with Troy running our day-to-day
business operations. Troy plans to relocate to Anchorage
and be on board by April 2nd. He is very excited about
our future and the board looks forward to working with
Troy in the CEO position.
While in Seattle, we also held a board
meeting on March 1st and 2nd. Highlights of actions
taken at that meeting are in this newsletter and include
declaring a dividend of $5.00 per share for shareholders
and an elder benefit of $500.
Following our board meeting, we hosted
a shareholder informational meeting. We have many shareholders
in the Pacific Northwest and the board enjoyed meeting
and talking with them. Thank you to all the shareholders
who attended the meeting. Congratulations to Jody Johnson
for winning the tickets to attend the annual meeting
in Anchorage. We look forward to seeing you in October.
In other news, we are happy to announce
that the shareholder permanent fund is fully funded
and it will now start operating as it was originally
intended. In 1992, TAC’s board of directors created
the fund with the sole purpose of giving back to the
people of TAC through dividends, elder benefits and
scholarships. More on the establishment and maintenance
of the permanent fund is found in this newsletter. Our
thanks to staff and those board members in 1992 who
were forward thinking and planning for our future by
the development of this important shareholder benefit.
On behalf of the board of directors,
we wish everyone the best, with a reminder to please
feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
